Saving one child at a time
An humble beginning through her award winning film on child sexual abuse (The Candy Man) in 2009, marked the onset of a creative revolution by our Founder Ms. Insia Dariwala. A survivor herself, she had very early on in life recognised the need to create safe spaces for children. This intention further solidified when in her spare time, she started to conduct personal safety sessions in schools around her. Taken aback by the vastness of the problem, and determined to work with the system in order to end CSA, she officially founded ‘The Hands of Hope Foundation’(THOHF), in 2015. Post that there was no looking back, and THOHF went on from becoming a small survivor led ngo, to a fully functional organisation, with the help of its volunteers and collaborators. Today THOHF is well-known for its pathbreaking, creative work in bringing awareness in society, and because of its successful efforts to make child laws in India gender neutral, it has also helpled change the way the world views child sexual abuse through a gendered lens.
